Security forces continued with the search operations and area domination in the fringe and vulnerable areas of hill and valley districts of Manipur on Wednesday during which they recovered various arms and ammunition.
According to the latest statement from the Manipur Police Control Room, security forces seized one .303 rifle with magazine, four 12mm single barrel rifle, one 12mm rifle, one 9mm pistol with magazine, four improvised mortars (pumpi gun), 57 7.62mm ammunitions, 20 9mm ammunitions, six .303 rifle ammunitions and two tear gas gun shell from Canan veng, New Lamka, Churachandpur district.
The statement further stated that the situation in the state was under control. It maintained that movement of 151 and 494 vehicles along NH-37 and NH-02 respectively with essential items have been ensured and strict security measures are taken up in all vulnerable locations and security convoy is provided in sensitive stretches in order to ensure free and safe movement of the vehicles.
While, a total of 110 Nakas/Checkpoints were installed in different Districts of Manipur, both in the hill and the valley and Police detained no one in connection with violations in different districts of the state, it added.
It further appealed to the general public not to believe in rumours and be aware of false videos.
It also advised them to confirm any circulation of unfounded videos by dialling rumour-free number - 9233522822 of the Central Control room and to return looted arms, ammunition and explosives to the police or nearest security forces immediately.
