Architects are taking major roles in bringing development with their work of beautifying a house, locality and a society, said MAHUD Minister Yumnam Khemchand on Monday.
He was speaking as the chief guest during the observation of ‘World Architecture Day’ and launching of ‘Manual of Architectural Practice’ at City Convention Centre, Palace Compound. The programme was organised by Manipur Architects’ Forum.
Khemchand said the architects may produce beautiful concepts on building of houses, localities and society but it will become useless if the people do not have a sense of belongingness. While shaping a society, coordination is needed among the various government departments, he added.
Meanwhile, a book on ‘Manual of Architectural Practice’ was also launched during the function.
MLA Mayanglambam Rameshwar Singh; joint secretary of finance/DP/ACR) and director (Institutional Finance) Anna Arambam; administrative officer (legal and Act Enforcement), Council of Architecture, India Deepak Kumar and president, Manipur Architects’ Forum Aribam Joychandra Sharma also attended the function as dais members.
Later, a discussion on ‘Protection of Title and Style of Architect and Architectural Firm’ was also conducted during the second session.
