AR seizes 3,920 kg of poppy seeds

The recovered items have been handed over to Customs Preventive Force, Moreh for further legal actions

Troops of Moreh Battalion on Wednesday foiled cross border smuggling activities in Moreh, stated a release issued by IGAR (South) on Thursday.

During an operation near H Munnom village in Moreh, the troops observed bags dumped in thick foliage along the Indo-Myanmar border, it stated. On thorough checking of the area, 56 bags containing 3,920 kg of poppy seeds worth Rs 2.7 crore were seized, IGAR (South) stated.

The recovered items have been handed over to Customs Preventive Force, Moreh for further legal actions, it added.
