Approval given to seek Rs 3,500 crore for construction of concrete roads: CM Biren

People have been facing frequent road damages during the rainy seasons. BJP will bring development in a phase-by-phase manner, Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh said.

Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh on Wednesday announced that the Central Finance Committee has given approval to seek Rs 3,500 crore from World Bank for building of concrete roads in the state to prevent frequent damages of roads in Manipur.

He was speaking to the media at the state BJP office located at Nityaipat Chuthek, Imphal.

He said people have been facing frequent road damages during the rainy seasons. BJP will bring development in a phase-by-phase manner as progress can be made one at a time, he added.

Biren said there are no tensions among the ethnic communities and it is not the time to create issues. He warned that outsiders should not try to create enmities among the ethnic communities of Manipur.

During the 100 days programme of the BJP-led government, more than 100 programmes will be inaugurated, he said. The developmental works under 100 days programme will be inaugurated by the Union Home Minister Amit Shah, he added.

“We were able to bring developmental works for Manipur under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi who is a world legend,” said CM Biren.

In the last eight years under the Modi-led government, many welfare schemes, developmental works have been taken up in Manipur. Under the Central scheme ‘Har Ghar Jal’, around 69 per cent of households have received drinking tap water. Only a mere 5.7 per cent of households received drinking tap water before the arrival of the BJP government, he added.

With public support, the BJP will try to bring more development for the welfare of people in the years to come, he added.

Besides, Biren said each BJP MLAs will be interacting with BJP members at state BJP office every Saturday.
