Following the end of the tenure of the present JNIMS director in August, JNIMS Teachers’ Association on Wednesday appealed to the authorities concerned to appoint a director which ticked all criteria laid out by Medical Council of India (MCI).
Speaking to the media at JNIMS A-Block, Imphal, association general secretary Ningthoujam Kumarjit stated that a notice by National Medical Commission had laid out the new requisites in the appointment of director, dean and principal of medical colleges across the country.
This also includes the qualification and experience criteria as well, he added.
He also highlighted that a notice on June 7 by the commission directed medical colleges to keep details and information about the institute, faculties and infrastructure on public domain.
“The MCI can cut the recognition of any medical institute if the said rules and regulations are not maintained,” he said.
Therefore, he appealed to authorities concerned to keep all these regulations in-check while appointing key posts at JNIMS.
