Another UG cadre arrested in Thoubal

One person, who identified himself as Chirom Ibocha Singh, 52, son of (Late) Ch Angou Singh of Waikhong Khunjao Leikai, was arrested on Friday.

Thoubal District Police arrested one active underground cadre of an unlawful organisation on Friday at around 3:15 pm.

During an operation in and around Langthabal village, one person was detained, who identified himself as Chirom Ibocha Singh, 52, son of (Late) Ch Angou Singh of Waikhong Khunjao Leikai.

After verification, he was found to have joined the proscribed outfit in the month of March 2000 through one Amumacha of the same outfit. He was trained with basic military training for 45 days from Seloi Task Force (STF), Henglep Timbul Training Centre under army no. 133 of 21st batch.

He was arrested from the spot of operation along with a Samsung mobile handset with SIM cards by observing formalities. He was later handed over to Khongjom Police Station for further necessary legal action, the source added.

On Tuesday, one active member of a proscribed UG group was arrested from his residence in Imphal around 7pm, District police commando, Imphal West said.

According to police sources, the arrested person, identified as Sapam Romi alias Mocha Singh, 40, son of (Late) S Ibobi Singh of Singjamei Mayengbam Leikai, belong to the PREPAK (PRO).
