The BJP wave in Manipur will not be affected after the announcement of the list of candidates though there are numerous party candidates in various assembly constituencies of the state, state party president A Sharda Devi said on Thursday.

After witnessing that there are numerous intending candidates of BJP in various Assembly constituencies of the state, many political parties are predicting that the BJP will witness a downfall in their wave after announcement of its candidates.

Addressing the joining ceremony of Thanga MLA Th Robindro and former Kakching MLA Y Surchandra to BJP at its state head office in Imphal, Sharda said that every member of BJP has their democratic rights to contest the election. However, the decision to finalise the candidates will be done as per the decision of their higher authorities and state election committee she added.

Robindro was the lone MLA of Trinamool Congress and Surchandra is a retired IAS officer.

“There might be some misunderstanding among the BJP after the announcement of candidates. But the matter will not affect the wave of BJP as it is a BJP’s family matter and its members are all well-disciplined,” said Sharda.

With the joining of many prominent political leaders to the party, the party will only grow stronger and stronger day by day and will surely win over 40 seats in the upcoming election of Manipur, she contended.

Witnessing the various welfare and developmental works taken up by the BJP-led government in its five year tenure with a sacrificial spirit, the party has gained the trust of the public and has been accepted by the majority of the population, added the president.

BJP Manipur Election (co-incharge) Ashok Singhal, who also attended the programme, lauded the party workers and supporters for their tremendous effort to make BJP, the strongest political party in the state.
Expressing his confidence that the BJP will shine in every corner of Manipur by getting an absolute majority in the upcoming election, he said, “With this Manipur will become stronger and will move only towards development.”

MLA Th Robindro expressed his confidence that he will be able to serve the people of his constituency more effectively as he will be a representative from the ruling party, which is dedicated for the well-being of the citizens.

Former MLA Y Surchandra said that he joined the party after witnessing the massive development programmes and schemes taken up by the BJP-led government in both the Centre and state with its ideology of integration and unity. It will be effective to serve the public after being a BJP’s MLA, he added.

The function was also attended by Union minister of state for Social Justice and Empowerment Pratima Bhoumik, former MP and Manipur BJP president Ksh Bhabananda among others.
