The celebration of Anna Yojana was held on Wednesday at Multipurpose Mandap Hall, Kangpokpi district headquarters.
The event, an initiative of the Government of India, was organised by district supply officers, CAF and PD Kangpokpi district to celebrate and commemorate 75 years of progressive India.
Deputy Commissioner, Kangpokpi, Zuringla Kengoo attended the occasion as chief guest while district supply officer, CAF and PD Kangpokpi Hevah Kipgen, and Kangpokpi Women Welfare Organisation president Hekim Hangshing attended as president and guest of honour respectively.
Free rice was distributed to beneficiaries under the Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Anna Yojana (PMGKAY) and free gas connection was also provided to all beneficiaries under the Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana on the occasion.
Addressing the gathering, DC Kangpokpi said that the celebration of Anna Yojana is part of the celebration of 75 years of India's Independence and it is a part of the State Government’s Action Plan ‘100 Action Points for First 100 Days’ which aim to serve the people of Manipur effectively throughout the five years.
Meanwhile, DSO, CAF and PD Kangpokpi expressed sincere gratitude to Chief Minister N Biren Singh, concerned ministers, local MLAs of the three assembly constituencies of Kangpokpi, and the deputy commissioner of Kangpokpi under whose leadership and constant guidance the scheme has been smoothly and successfully implemented in the district.
While acknowledging the contribution of the district CAF and PD department, the DSO Kangpokpi further said that with the tireless efforts and sacrifices made by the department of CAF and PD as well as the FPS agents of Kangpokpi district "we have been able to achieve the implementation of the scheme successfully".
Representatives of Kangpokpi Town Committee, Kangpokpi Women Welfare Organisation, and Kangpokpi Youth Union also attended the celebration.
