All Manipur Meitei Pangal Clubs’ Organisation (AMMPACO) president Yumkhaibam Hayatur Rahman strongly condemned the actions of Kuki-Zo narco-terrorists for taking people hostage to meet their demands.
He stated that the issue could be easily resolved if both the state and central governments took stringent action to rescue the two youths held hostage by Kuki narco-terrorists, instead of pretending that the two cannot be traced.
Rahman questioned how, despite the rescue of one of the three youths, the state and central forces are still unable to trace the remaining two, who are still in the custody of Kuki militants.
He pointed out that Manipur was originally inhabited by three groups “Hao, Meitei, and Pangal” who were considered the legs of a tripod. However, the emergence of a new tribe, the Kuki, has created various issues aimed at disintegrating this unity, he added.
Rahman further charged that the failure of both the state and central governments to rescue the duo would only escalate the ongoing violence, rather than restore peace in Manipur.
He also expressed suspicion that political interests might be involved in the failure to rescue the two youths, especially since one of their companions was successfully rescued.
He emphasized that other communities, apart from the two warring groups, have also been suffering since the violence erupted on May 3 of last year. He appealed to both the state and central governments to rescue the duo held hostage by Kuki narco-terrorists and take necessary steps to restore peace in Manipur.
