The All Manipur Gorkha Students’ Union (AMGSU) appealed the state and Central government to address the misunderstanding between the two ethnic groups involved in the recent outbreak of violence in the state and sought early solution.
Expressing serious concern over the prevailing tense situation in the state since May 3, the students union prayed for peace and appealed to all concerned communities residing in the state to refrain from any form of violence.
It stated that many grievances and misunderstanding need to be addressed by understanding through social harmony, love, peaceful negotiation and table talk.
It also extended heartfelt condolences to those who lost their family members in the violence and prays for the speedy recovery of the injured persons, the AMGSU said in a release.
It pointed that the government is the sole responsible authority to bring amicable and peaceful solution in the state.
AMGSU appealed to the authority concerned to arrange resettlement for the displaced families, to provide security to the vulnerable areas in the state and to provide free education to the affected students. Loss of precious lives and destruction of valuable properties including houses and places of worship was regrettable, it added.
It further appealed to all the communities of the state to join hands to bring back peace and normalcy in the state. It also appealed all the stakeholders to refrain from violence, spreading rumours and other destructive form of behaviour which will lead to more suffering and hardship to innocent public.
Gorkha CSOs of Kanglatombi under the initiative of AMGSU have also voluntarily donated to relief camps on Monday.
