The All Manipur Bar Association (AMBA) on Saturday submitted a memorandum to the Manipur Governor, highlighting four charter of demands and urged for immediate action and favourable order and enforcement of the rule of law in the state.
AMBA, in its memorandum, vehemently condemned the brutal killing of two minors, one aged about 8 months only and another 8 years old along with one woman, out of six abducted innocent civilians by suspected Kuki militants/terrorists, whose dead bodies were found in the Barak River, upstream near Jirimukh in Jiribam.
It also condemned the recent imposition of disturbed area under AFSPA in some valley areas of the state and demanded to immediately withdraw the same and to initiate military crackdown of the Kuki-Zo militants in the state.
It further urged to safeguard Rule of law, protection of Article 21 under the Constitution of India - Protection of life and personal liberty in the state.
AMBA also demanded immediate declaration of all the Kuki Militants as terrorist organisations for their inhumane activities, including brutal killing of civilians, armed confrontations and threats to the state’s peace, it stated.
