The All Manipur Bar Association (AMBA) on Wednesday staged a protest against senior advocate Colin Gonsalves, accusing him of instigating violence in Manipur and undermining the High Court of Manipur.
Advocates of AMBA staged a sit-in-protest at the front gate of Cheirap Court in Imphal.
Speaking to the media, AMBA president Puyam Tomcha Meitei said that during the International Mother’s Day celebration held in Delhi, the senior advocate, Colin Gonsalves, spoke about the ongoing conflict in Manipur in a way that many women were molested, raped during the ongoing conflict.
The senior advocate even undermined the Manipur High Court stating the HC is not functioning well and that the HC should be demolished, Tomcha said.
The senior advocate instigated the Kuki-Zo community to continue the movement and let the Meitei community learn a lesson, Tomcha alleged, maintaining that the senior advocate is instigating the people to erupt into more violence.
AMBA will submit representations to the concerned authorities, Tomcha informed.
