Manipur Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) chief spokesperson Ch Bijoy on Wednesday stated that all local and regional parties in the state are allies of the BJP except for the Congress party and the Communist party.

Addressing the media at Nityaipat Chuthek, Imphal on Wednesday, Bijoy said that the BJP will never forget the support of local and regional parties in future.

The BJP spokesperson also pointed out that in the Biren-led coalition government, people witnessed the problems and issues of a coalition government. In this regard, he appreciated the Naga People’s Front (NPF) for being a reliable political party amidst it all.

Bijoy also said the BJP is the only political party in Manipur that is contesting in all 60 assembly constituencies. However, some small political parties are trying to bring a ‘Hung Assembly’ in the coming new state government, he said.

The BJP leader also said that in an opinion poll for Manipur for the coming state legislative assembly election, an electronic media channel predicted that BJP may win 31-37 seats, INC 13-19, NPP 3-9, NPF 1-5 and others 0-2.

There might be some error in the opinion poll as the state BJP is targeting 40 and above seats, Bijoy stated.

However, NPP may win with lower limit of the opinion poll which is three seats, he added.

In the coming election, some small political parties are claiming that they will win single largest party and they will form the state government while some of them are targeting to bring ‘hung assembly’, said Bijoy.

The Congress party had already declared that they may win 15 seats, while the NPP stated that they will be contesting in 40 assembly constituencies and may win 20 seats, Bijoy said. But, by winning 20 seats how can a political party claim that the party has the single largest party, he questioned.

Bijoy appealed to the people to support "stable political party like the BJP" instead of wasting their votes by supporting some small political parties.
