All India Radio (AIR), Imphal commenced its Diamond Jubilee observation with the curtain raiser event which was held at the auditorium of AIR, Imphal at Palace Compound on Thursday.
A statement stated that at the event, a PowerPoint presentation on the history of AIR since its establishment in 1963 was presented, followed by the various cultural performances by the staff.
The chief guest of the event Prasar Bharati additional director general Sunil Srivastava stated that as a nod of acknowledgement on the important roles of AIR and Doordarshan, the union government had also allotted 2,500 crore, it informed.
He also assured that he will seek the help of Prasar Bharati, Manipur CEO and take up various steps for the development of the station, it continued. He also expressed appreciation for the selection of the AIR Imphal song ‘Sanaleibak Manipur’ as the state song of Manipur, it maintained.
The event was attended by AIR Imphal director (Engineering) Nongmaithem Nandakumar, Station News Unit head Gin Gangte and the Station Programme head Adhikarimayum Gitchandra, it added.
