The controversial president of Aimol Tribe Union Manipur RT Akhel Aimol on Saturday clarified that the union had severed all ties with Kuki Inpi Manipur (KIM) and was not connected with KIM in any manner.
Speaking to the press at the Manipur Press Club in Majorkhul, Imphal, Akhel Aimol maintained that the union was connected with KIM with the sole objective to promote unity among different communities of Manipur.
"The union has always strived to maintain peace and affable relations with all communities in Manipur and as such, we worked with KIM to uphold that same objective," he said.
He stated that the union had never harboured any ill feelings towards other communities in the state and added that the Aimol community was a small peace-loving indigenous community of Manipur.
"The Aimol community has never stood for anything which threatened the integrity and unity of Manipur and as such, the union decided to cut all ties with KIM when they asserted their demands for a separate administration," he said.
He stated that the union would not maintain any link with KIM nor take part in any activity which could malign the image of Aimol union and infringe upon the collective identity of Manipur.
