At Lilong bazaar, many Congress workers took part in a protest organised by the Lilong Block Congress Committee against Agnipath Scheme.

At the protest held in front of Khangabok Block Congress Committee office at Wangbal, secretary of the committee Y Basanta demanded that the scheme must be immediately scrapped. He said that the BJP has let down the youths of the nation and lost their faith. The scheme breaks the sense of unity in the country and disrespects the Indian Armed Force. The scheme was launched not for the welfare of the nation but the vested interests and advantage for the BJP, he alleged.

Placards that read, ‘BJP must stop sidelining the youths’, ‘Remove Modi’s Agnipath scheme’, ‘Agnipath scheme is not for the people but for BJP’ etc. were displayed.

Meanwhile, in Kakching district, sit-ins against the scheme were also organised by the Kakching Block Congress Committee and Wabagai Block Congress Committee.

At the protest organised by Wabagai Block Congress Committee, former Wabagai MLA Fajur Rahim expressed that Agnipath is for ruining and oppressing the youths.

The BJP government at the Centre and the state has taken away the future of the youths, he alleged. UPSC and MPSC have stopped proper functioning as well and are no longer handing out jobs, he said.

At present, many departments are functioning with vacant seats. In such a scenario, all must unite and raise objections against such a scheme which plans to destroy the youths, he added.
