Nongthombam Biren Singh, newly re-elected as Manipur BJP Legislative party leader, on Sunday distributed sweets to party leaders and members who were present at the announcement of his appointment as the legislative party leader and the chief minister of the state.
Several party leaders and members showered Biren with congratulatory wishes on his achievement, as he is set to be sworn in as chief minister of Manipur for the second term on Monday.
Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman announced the election of N Biren Singh as state BJP Legislative leader and chief minister of the new BJP government to be formed in the state, after holding a closed-door meeting with BJP leaders at the party office, Thambal Shanglen, Nityaipat Chuthek in Imphal Sunday.
While Biren along with Union ministers Nirmala Sitharaman, Kiren Rijiju and other senior party leaders called on Governor La Ganesan and staked claim for forming the next government in the state, Governor La Ganesan has invited the leader of Manipur BJP Legislative Party to indicate the date and time of forming his new ministry.
