The Manipur government has sent a request letter to the newly elected President of India to inaugurate the upcoming Sangai Festival 2022, said Chief Minister N Biren Singh on Wednesday.
Biren was speaking to the media on the sidelines of the launch cum demonstration of 11 fire tender vehicles held at Khuman Lampak, main gate parking, Imphal East.
Responding to the media, Biren said that after a gap of two years due to the pandemic, the state government is planning to organise the upcoming Sangai Festival in a grand manner.
Biren said the government is planning to fix the main venue for the function at the Ethnic Park, Moirang Khunou which is planned for completion of the construction work by October end.
The venue will be distributed at different places of the state, including Hapta Kangjeibung, in order to reduce the congestion and for the feasibility of public and tourist, Biren said.
The state government will also be inviting some foreign delegates to participate in the Sangai Festival, 2022 where it is targeting a turnout of over 10 lakh people.
Further responding to media on another query regarding the demands of scheduled tribe status in the state, Biren said the government will take necessary steps after considering a legitimate solution that would suit the entire community.
The government will be doing its level best for the welfare of the people, he added.
