Administrative heads told to prevent spellings, grammatical mistakes on Independence Day banners

All administrative secretaries and heads of the departments involved in preparing the Independence Day celebration gates have been urged to recheck the wordings.

Additional secretary to the chief minister of Manipur, Neilenthang Telien, on Sunday issued a statement, urging the authorities and departments concerned to prevent spelling or grammatical mistakes on the banners put on the gates which are being erected on the roads in connection with the 75th Independence Day celebrations. 

The statement urged all administrative secretaries and heads of the departments involved in preparing the gates to recheck the wordings and spellings used in the celebration gates and ensure that the wordings are “Independence Day Celebration” and “Celebrating 75th years of India’s Independence.”

The statement was issued after observing that there are “shortcomings in the gates” being put by departments for the Independence Day celebrations of August 15.

It also stated that the wording “76th Independence Day Celebration” should be avoided so that the focus is on the 75 years of Independence. It further urged to ensure that Aazadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav logo is used on the banners in the gates.

It may be mentioned that photos of the banners with spelling mistakes in the words “Independence Day” allegedly of the 75th Independence Day celebrations were circulated in social media platforms.
