Accused in Moreh killing arrested

Accused Jia-Ul-Haque alias Rohit was absconding after killing Raj Gajmer. He was arrested from a building in Phaicham veng, Moreh.

The main accused in the alleged murder of one Raj Gajmer who was shot at inside a car on Friday night has been arrested on Saturday night.   

Accused Jia-Ul-Haque alias Rohit was absconding after killing Raj Gajmer. He was arrested from a building in Phaicham veng, Moreh.

On getting input about the movement of accused Rohit, a team of Moreh police and CDO led by additional SPs, under the supervision of SP Tengnoupal, rushed to the area and it was cordoned off, as per police sources.

The suspect was initially not found when the police checked the rooms of the building and its premises. During the raid, a person was spotted climbing towards a water storage tank atop the building terrace in a suspicious manner, sources said.

SI K Tungnung climbed the terrace water storage and caught Rohit who was hiding with a 9mm pistol, as per sources.

It may be mentioned that Moreh CSOs had submitted a memorandum to the government, demanding the authority concerned to nab the absconding culprit within 48 hours.

Meanwhile, the Kuki Students Organisation expressed shocked on the murder of Raj Gajmer who was a B.Sc 3rd Semester student at Moreh College.

Condemning the heinous crime, KSO demanded the state government to award befitting punishment to the culprit Jia-Ul-Haque, in a release.

It also expressed gratitude to Moreh police and Commando for nabbing the criminal and urged the Government security agencies in Moreh to do all it can to prevent recurrence of such crimes in future.

KSO Moreh block share the pain and grievances of the bereaved family, it stated. “It is our humble appeal to the government and the authorities concerned to fulfill the demands submitted by various communities on behalf of the victim in time,” it added.

All Community Development Organisation Moreh (ACODOM) and Nupi Khunai Chaokhat Lamjing Lup Moreh also expressed strong condemnations against the killing of Raj Gajmer on Friday night at Muslim Nagar Moreh allegedly by one Md Jia ul Haque alias Rohit.

In a joint release, the two organisations appealed to the state government to arrest the culprits at the earliest and award strangest punishments according to the law.

Both organisations also appealed to the government to give all possible help to the family of the deceased and injured person. It also requested the security forces to do all necessary steps to keep Moreh town peaceful.
