The Special Court (ND and PS), Senapati on Thursday remanded an accused who was arrested with 118 grams of brown sugar at Mao gate screening point in 15-day judicial custody till June 2.
The accused Sanjeev Kumar Mukhyea, 28, son of Ganesh Kumar Mukhyea of Maohing Nepali village, Kangpokpi district was arrested on May 14 by a Mao police team.
The special public prosecutor submitted that the accused admitted to the crime. He said that the seized illegal items suspected to be brown sugar was recovered from his bag at the time of his arrest. He further said that the suspected brown sugar was brought from one female Chongloi, aged about 30 years, from Churachandpur district, Manipur at the rate of Rs 13,000 per a soap case. He said that the soap cases are to be given to one Imran khan, aged about 38 years at Guwahati at a higher price of Rs 23,000 only per soap case.

It was further submitted that the accused person admitted to having committed the charge level against him. Further, the accused revealed that in 2018, he was once arrested by the Assam police at Golaghat Police station for transporting 3 Kgs of Opium and was in the Jail for 14 months.
Special public prosecutor further submitted that from the voluntary disclosure and facts, the accused person is solely depending on drug trafficking for his livelihood and his modus operandi is to transport illegal drugs from Manipur to Assam. It was submitted that it is of utmost importance that the accused be remanded in judicial custody to complete the investigation smoothly.
The court after hearing the submission remanded him in 15-day judicial custody.
