Decrying the arrest of Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia on Sunday, the Manipur unit of Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Monday staged a protest demonstration in front of BJP Manipur Pradesh office at Nityaipat Chuthek, Imphal.
Activity coordinator of AAP state unit, Bishwanath Thingnam, in a statement, lambasted the BJP for allegedly misusing central investigating agencies to frame Manish Sisodia.
Thingnam said AAP units across the country on Sunday protested against the wrongful arrest of the deputy chief minister. He pointed out that the allegations against Sisodia were unfounded.
He maintained that Sisodia, who also serves as Delhi's education minister, had been striving to improve government schools and education ever since AAP came to power. Bishwanath stated that government schools in Delhi came to par with private schools under his leadership.
"Poor families finally had good schools and education, " he mentioned in the release.
The release maintained that politics should strive to uplift society and not target political rivals. As such, the AAP Manipur unit demanded immediate release of Manish Sisodia from police custody and to drop charges against him.
