4th Manipuri dance workshop-cum-festival concludes

The 21-day-long event saw the participation of 20 young artistes from various parts of the state.

The 21-day-long ‘4th Workshop-cum-Festival in Manipuri Dance’, which started on November 10, concluded on Saturday with an event was organised by Loijingloya Yaiphakol (LOLY) at Top Mayai Leikai, Imphal East under the sponsorship of the Ministry of Culture, Government of India.

The valedictory function was attended by assistant professor M Chandrakumar Singh, president of LOYL L Saratkumar Singh, and retired CDPO I Memcha Devi as the chief guest, president, and guest of honour respectively.

On the occasion, Chandrakumar, as the chief guest, reflected on the challenges faced by Manipuri culture in the past and present and discussed possible solutions for its revival.

Saratkumar urged young artistes to pursue research to enhance and preserve Manipur’s cultural assets.

Memcha spoke about the cultural values and ethics upheld by artistes and the significance of preserving them for future generations.

Later, as part of the function, vibrant performances were presented by the artistes of the organisation. Certificates of appreciation were also distributed to the participants of the workshop-cum-festival.
