Two teams of the narcotics cell seized 485 grams of heroin powder while frisking and checking at Keirao Langdum at about 4.10 pm on Monday.
The police team under the supervision of officer-in-charge, Narcotics cell, Imphal East conducted frisking and checking in-and-around Keiral Langdum area, stated a release. During the police activity, one unknown person was seen coming from the western side towards the frisking and checking spot, it stated.

On seeing the police team, the unknown person tried to escape from the police team towards the hills, it mentioned. When the police team tried to arrest the unknown person, he managed to escape from the police team by taking the advantage of darkness; however, a bag was seen thrown by the unknown person.
When the police team recovered the said bag, 45 soap cases suspected to be containing heroin powder were detected inside the bag. On further verification, the suspected powder was confirmed to be heroin, it stated.
The seized items have been handed over to officer-in-charge, Irilbung and a case has been registered at the same police station concerning the matter.
