35 acres poppy cultivation destroyed in Tengnoupal's Machi village

An estimated yield of about 350 kg of poppy was destroyed during the destruction drive, police sources said.

Around 35 acres of poppy cultivation at Hill range of Machi village in Tengnoupal district was destroyed by a combined team of Tengnoupal district police, NAB, NCB and 8 Manipur Rifles on Wednesday, police said.

The police said the poppy plant destruction drive was carried out under the overall supervision of Superintendent of Police, Tengnoupal.

The combined team destroyed an estimated yield of about 350 kg of poppy during the destruction drive, police sources said.

A case with FIR No. 1(1)2022 MCI PS u/s 18(b) ND&PS Act has been registered at MCI Police Station.

The team included Additional Superintendent of Police (OPS), Moreh, Addl SP(LO)/Tengnoupal, SDPO/Moreh, OC/Tengnoupal and OC/MACHI in the presence of the district executive magistrate.
