21 Myanmar nationals stranded in India sent home

The Myanmar nationals who were sent to their home country on Wednesday came from Bangalore, Shillong, Churachandpur among others.

A total of 21 Myanmar nationals, nine female and 11 males, who were stranded in different parts of India following Covid-19 lockdown were sent back to their home country on Wednesday, official sources said.

Two of them came from Bangalore while 11 came from Shillong, four came  from Churachandpur, three from Kanglatombi and one is from Kakching Lamkhai. They stayed in different quarantine centres at Moreh in the last few days and tested negative for Covid-19.

Those 11 persons coming from Shillong are students. They are from Kachin state, Myanmar. Four persons coming from Churachandpur are Theologians. They were under home quarantine at the house of Cecilia Chinneivah Haokip, member ADC Chandel.

Before leaving India for Myanmar, the Myanmar nationals expressed gratitude to the Indian Government and Haokip for helping them during the hardship.

Dr Pritam and other medical staff from Moreh Hospital conducted thermal screening of all the 21 Myanmar nationals at ICP.

Robin Gangte (manager ICP), Cecilia Chinneivah Haokip (member ADC Chandel), Major Vikram (43 AR) Shri Krishna Anand (Immigration officers) and medical team dropped them at the Indo-Myanmar friendship bridge.
