The 19th Surgical Outreach Mission Camp, which began on August 12 at the District Hospital, Tamenglong concluded on Sunday.
The Surgical Camp was officially flagged off on August 12 in the presence of Deputy Commissioner/ Chairman, District Health Society, Tamenglong.
While welcoming the doctors from Imphal, Tamenglong chief medical officer Dr. G. Majachunglu highlighted the health status of Tamenglong District.
World Hepatitis Day, 2023 under the theme “One Live, One Liver” was also observed along with the surgical camp.
Chief medical officer expressed her special gratitude to Janghemlung Panmei, MLA, Tamenglong District and Minister Awangbow Newmai for financial assistance to conduct the camp.
Speaking at the concluding ceremony, Tamenglong Deputy Commissioner L Angshim Dangshawa thanked the medical fraternity for their hard work despite the challenges posed by the district in infrastructures, roads and transportation.
He further commented that the medical staff are the “Real Heroes” for their sacrifices. He also urged the local people to continue providing cooperation and support the health department by refraining from negativity towards the staff and services provided by them.
He also encouraged the people to strive for grooming more doctors and health workers and expect/depend less from other places.
He said, “the decision for change should start from us, here and not expecting others to come and help us”.
He highlighted the ongoing process of establishing a blood bank, anaesthesia work station and other medical equipment required for conducting surgery at District Hospital, Tamenglong at the earliest.
He further encouraged the medical students to feel the need of coming back and working in their own respective district and refrain from shying away when their service is required of them.
