The 18th Annual Conference of North East Chapter of Association of Radiation Oncologists of India (NE-AROI) kicked off at Classic Grande, Imphal on Saturday.
The conference has been organised by Manipur Oncology Society and will be held on October 20.
During the conference, several resource persons and cancer specialists from all across the country including NE-AROI president Y Indibor gave presentations on the latest advances in cancer research and study.
Vice chancellor of Manipur University Naorem Lokendra stated that advancement in medical science and technology played a crucial role in mitigating the fear around cancer and its treatment.
“There was once a time when cancer treatment was very underdeveloped in Manipur as such patients had to go outside for treatment. Now, we have three hospitals specialised in cancer treatment,” he said.
He stated that the advancement in cancer treatment has tremendously reduced the mental and physical toil on patients and aided in improving their treatment experience.
“The conference is the right step in addressing and improving all these advancements and will help open new doors in cancer treatment,” he said.
