176 candidates file nomination papers for first phase election in Manipur

Filing of nomination papers for the first phase assembly election in Manipur ended on Tuesday. As many as 38 assembly constituencies will go to polls in the first phase on February 27.

The nomination process for the first phase Manipur assembly election 2022 concluded on Tuesday. A total of 176 candidates filed their nomination papers.

Filing of nomination papers for the first phase election began on February 1 and continued for the next seven days.

As many as 38 assembly constituencies will go to polls in the first phase on February 27.

There are altogether 13 assembly constituencies in Imphal West and 10 assembly constituencies in Imphal East district.

In all, 45 candidates filed their nominations in Imphal East which includes seven candidates from Khurai, six from Khundrakpam, four from Wangkhei, five each from Yaiskul and Lamlai; four from Andro; three from Thongju, five from Keshtrigao, and two from Heingang.

Of the total 56 candidates in Imphal West, eight candidates are in Sekmai; five each in Keishamthong, Lamsang, Konthoujam, and Langthabal; four each in Uripok, Singjamei, Patsoi, and Naoriya Pakhanglakpa; three each in Thangmeiband, Sagolband, Wangoi and Mayang Imphal.

In Bishnupur, a total of 22 candidates filed their nominations in six assembly constituencies in the district. This includes two candidates from Nambol; seven from Oinam; three each from Bishnupur and Moirang; two from Thanga and five from Kumbi assembly constituency.

A total of 18 candidates filed their nominations in three assembly constituencies of Kangpokpi. Eight from Saikul assembly constituency; four from Kangpokpi constituency and six from Saitu.

In Churachandpur district, a total of 35 candidates have filed their nomination papers from six assembly constituencies. Of the total candidates, three filed their papers from Tipaimukh; six each from Thanlon and Henglep; seven from Churachandpur; nine from Saikot and four from Singhat assembly constituency.
