Revenue department and Forest department on Monday conducted a joint survey at Waithou Protected Forest from Usoipokpi to Waithou Bridge, during which it was found that 16 of the residents of the encroached land at the protected forest area had the proper ROR while four did not.

The inspection was conducted by sub-divisional officer Lilong Angom Shijalembi and divisional forest officer Thoubal Thoidingjam Lokendro, under the supervision of Thoubal district deputy commissioner Ahanthem Subash.
In the joint survey, the team was accompanied by Thoubal district Police force led by SP Jogeshchandra Haobijam, rangers of Thoubal Forest Range, Kakching Range, beat officers and staff of SDO Lilong.
Speaking on the occasion, DFO Lokendro said that the land encroachers without the ROR will be evicted with prior notice, while those with the ROR will be notified to the authorities concerned to proceed with the necessary legal actions.

In 2016 upon receiving information of illegal encroachers having ROR, the Thoubal Forest department had urged the Thoubal DC to withdraw the ROR and evict the illegal encroachers, but no action had been taken up till date, he added.
Commending the public of Lilong SDO Angom Shijalembi said in the survey the measurement of forest area and revenue areas had been properly examined.
