144 CrPC imposed at New Temporary Market in Imphal West

The Imphal West district magistrate order restricted street vendors in the temporary market from 6 am to 12 noon everyday.

Imphal West district magistrate Th Kirankumar imposed seven-day prohibitory orders under Section 144 (1), 144(2) and 144(3) of CrPC,1973 with immediate effect at the New Temporary market, Thangal bazar, Imphal.

The order restricted street vendors in the temporary market from 6 am to 12 noon everyday.

According to the Superintendent of Police, Imphal West district, women vendors of New Temporary Market, are likely to raise agitations which might disturb the law and order situation in the market and a reasonable apprehension of causing serious breach of peace disturbance to public tranquility and grave danger to human life and property in the said area.

The order prohibits assembly of five or more people, carrying of deadly weapons like sticks, stones and firearms without a valid license.

It prohibits the street vendors from leaving any belongings in the said area and prevents any individuals from entering the scheduled area during the restricted hours.

However, government agencies involved in the enforcement of law and order will be exempted from the purview of the prohibition.
