A 132nd Khongjom War Memorial programme organised by senior citizens of Konthoujam Maning Leikai under the Old Age Home Langjing Achouba was held at the residence of Konthoujam Chaobi at Konthoujam Maning Leikai, Imphal West.
At the event, the chief guest of the programme social and cultural activist Rakesh Naorem said that the ideology of patriotism should be instilled in the minds of the youth from an early age.
The Khongjom War of 1891 is one of the most important historical periods of Manipur, he mentioned.
During the event, floral tributes were presented to Paona Brajabashi, Bir Tikendrajit and Thangal General. Exercise books and cash prizes were given to the participants of the competitions.
The event was attended by Konthoujam Chaobi and Mayengbam Heiton as the president and Old Age Home Langjing Achouba member Surjit as the guest of honour. Old Age Home Langjing Achouba president Mayengbam Kamala talked about the Khongjom War.
As part of the programme, a poem recitation and singing competition were also organised with the objective of promoting patriotism in the minds of the younger generations, said the secretary of the old age home secretary KC Gita.
