As many as 13 more candidates from Thoubal and Kakching districts on Wednesday filed their nomination papers for the ensuing second phase of the 12th Manipur Legislative Assembly election which is scheduled on March 3, 2022.
On the fifth day of nomination filing for the upcoming assembly election, 13 candidates from Thoubal district and Kakching district had submitted their nomination file to their respective returning officers. With six Assembly Constituencies from Thoubal district and four from Kakching district, a total of 22 assembly constituencies will go to polls in the second phase of the 12th Manipur general assembly elections.
Former minister of Lilong assembly constituency of Thoubal district Md Abdul Nasir submitted his nomination file as a Janata Dal-United candidate to returning officer Angom Shijalembi Chanu.
Till date, Md Abdul is the only candidate who has submitted the nomination file for the assembly constituency.
Shiv Sena candidate of Thoubal assembly constituency Konsam Michael submitted his nomination file to returning officer Takhellambam Millikan Singh. He will be contesting against former chief minister O Ibobi.
Candidates of Wangkhem assembly constituency, Indian National Congress (INC) candidate MLA Keisam Meghachandra and NPP candidate Kharibam Jiban submitted their nomination file to the returning officer Mayengbam Ranjeeta Devi.
Candidates of Heirok assembly constituency, BJP candidate Thokchom Radheshyam and NPP candidate Ningthoujam Diten also have submitted their nomination file to returning officer Ksh Umananda.
NPP candidate of Wangjing-Tentha Usham Manglem has submitted his nomination file to returning officer Ksh Umananda.
No candidate of Khangabok assembly constituency of Thoubal district and Kakching Assembly constituency submitted their nomination file so far.
Candidates of Wabagai assembly constituency of Kakching district, INC candidate MLA Md Fajur Rahim, NPP candidate Mayengbam Ranjit and independent candidate Md Shakir Ahmed have submitted their nomination papers to returning officer Kherdananda P.
NPP candidate of Hiyanglam assembly constituency Maibam Dhanabir and INC candidate of Sugunu assembly constituency MLA Kangujam Ranjit submitted their nomination file to returning officer M Kapajit.
The last day for the filing of nomination is February 11 while the scrutiny of the candidates will be held on February 14 and the last day of withdrawal of nomination is February 16.
