The Universal Mother’s Organistion (UMO) along with the people of Pukhao has demanded the Ruling and Opposition MLAs in Manipur to unite in resolving the Manipur crisis and cautioned that the organisation along with the people would resort to series of intense agitations if they failed to do so within 10 days.

“The people know all the political tricks of the legislatures. We know all the sly political games of the MLAs, and it would be wise for them to unite to resolve the crisis instead of constantly bickering about one another,” UMO stated.

Speaking to the media on the sidelines of a public meeting at Pukhao Ahallup, Naharup Awang and Makha Leikai on Friday, UMO president Ema Sorojini demanded the authorities to implement uniform laws in the hills and the valley of Manipur.

“Political dialogue is the only way forward. The conflict has to end on certain terms which can only be brought through political dialogue with both communities,” she said.

She maintained that the dead bodies of Kukis in various morgues in Imphal should not be taken till the bodies of the two young students are retrieved first.

The Kukis cannot return to Imphal till Meiteis are resettled in their original residences in Churachandpur, Kangpokpi and other places, she added.

She also demanded authorities to take stringent action to reclaim Meitei shrines in the hills which were destroyed by Kuki miscreants.
