Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday joined the world in observing World Water Day 2022 and called upon the citizens of the nation to reaffirm pledge to save every drop of water.
"On World Water Day 2022, let’s reaffirm our pledge to save every drop of water. Our nation is undertaking numerous measures like Jal Jeevan Mission to ensure water conservation and access to clean drinking water for our citizens," PM Modi tweeted.
In another tweeted, the prime minister appreciated all those individuals and organisations who are working towards saving water.
"Over the last few years, it is heartening to see water conversation become a mass movement, with innovative efforts taking place in all parts of the nation. I would like to appreciate all those individuals and organisations who are working towards saving water," Modi said.
Meanwhile, Minister of State for Jal Shakti Bishweswar Tudu in a written reply in Lok Sabha on Monday informed the house that 340 Jal Shakti Kendras have been set up in 340 districts.
The minister also said that Ministry of Housing & Urban Affairs (MoHUA) has formulated Model Building Bye Laws (MBBL), 2016 for the states to adopt measures suitable to local conditions, wherein adequate focus has been given on requirement of rainwater harvesting and water conservation measures etc.
As per MBBL, all buildings having a plot size of 100 sq.m. or, more shall mandatorily include the complete proposal of rainwater harvesting. As many as 33 States/ UTs have adopted the features of these Bye Laws, he said.
