Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday greeted the people of Kerala on the occasion of Onam festival celebration.
"Best wishes on the special occasion of Onam, a festival associated with positivity, vibrancy, brotherhood and harmony. I pray for everyone's good health and wellbeing," the prime minister said in a Twitter post on Saturday.
This year, the Onam festival is celebrated from August 12 to 23.
Union Home Minister Amit Shah also took to Twitter and extended festival greetings to the people on the occasion.
"Onam signifies peace and harmony. On this auspicious festival, I extend my warm greetings to all our Malayalee sisters and brothers around the world. May the flavours of Sadya and the musical beats of Pulikali bring an abundance of joy and prosperity to all. Happy Onam!" Amit Shah Tweeted.
Meanwhile, in a festive spirit of the Onam celebration, MP for Thiruvananthapuram, Shashi Tharoor also took to Twitter and posted a video of him enjoying the festival the traditional way - Onam swing tradition.
"There’s an Onam swing tradition that one normally leaves to young girls. I was persuaded to get Into the spirit of things this year. Happy Onam!" Tharoor captioned a video he posted on Twitter.

Meanwhile, the festival is celebrated low key in Kerala this year as the COVId-19 pandemic continues to rage on. Kerala today has the highest number of Covid-19 active caseload in the country at 1,82,818 as of Saturday.
