Manipur Governor La Ganesan extended his greetings to the people of the state on the auspicious occasion of the birth anniversary of former governor general of India late C Rajagopalachari.
In his message, the governor said the last governor general also known as Rajaji or C R or Mootharignar Rajaji was an Indian statesman, writer, lawyer and independence activist.
Recalling that Rajaji was credited with the composition of the song Kurai Onrum Illai set to Carnatic music, he acclaimed that Rajaji was an accomplished writer who made lasting contributions to Indian English literature. “He pioneered temperance and temple entry movements in India and advocated Dalit upliftment,” he added.
