India has crossed three lakh total Covid-19 cases, surpassing the UK with 1, 45,779 active cases and 1,54,330 recovered cases, the Health and Family Welfare Ministry said on Saturday.

India has crossed three lakh total Covid-19 cases surpassing the UK with 1, 45,779 active cases and 1,54,330 recovered case, the Health and Family Welfare Ministry said on Saturday.

On Friday, the country recorded over 10,000 new cases, highest new cases in a day since the Covid-19 outbreak, taking the tally to 2,97,535, while the death toll rose to 8,498 with a record single-day spike of 396 fatalities, according to the Union Health Ministry data.

The country, so far, has witnessed 8,884 number of deaths due to Covid-19, the ministry stated.

Of all the states, Maharashtra continues to record the highest number of Covid-19 cases as the tally crossed 1 lakh at 1,01,141, while Delhi and Tamil also recorded highest single day spikes of 2,137 positive cases, 1,982 positive cases respectively, according to the MHA data.

The total number of COVID-19 cases worldwide as of Saturday is 7,732,952, while the number of active cases stands at 3,348,405 and number of deaths due to the virus has risen to 428,248 and recovery number at 3,956,299.
