Linthoingambi Thongram, who reportedly became the sole position holder from a government higher secondary school by securing the fourth position among the toppers of the Class XII examination conducted by the Council of Higher Secondary Education Manipur (COHSEM), expressed her desire to work in the teaching profession by becoming a professor.

As the results of the Arts stream was declared, a student of TG Higher Secondary School, Linthoingambi Thongram proved that students can achieve their targets regardless of whether they are studying in a private or government institution if they are fully determined.

Linthoingambi from Tentha Khunou in Thoubal district is the youngest sibling among four children of Th Gunindro and Th (O) Pravashini. A media team visited Linthoingambi at her residence in Tentha Khunou, during which she expressed that in terms of realising a student's goals, there are no differences between private and government schools.

She pointed out that it is absolutely necessary to digest the lessons which are being taught in classes and further approach the teachers to clarify doubts when needed. Students should never feel discouraged or lack confidence because they are studying in government schools, she asserted.

“Although we had online classes, the teachers taught our lessons with great diligence and there was no need for tuition,” she said. She also credited her success to her school teachers and parents. “I am able to secure the fourth position from the blessings of my school teachers and my parents,” she added.

She further expressed her aim to pursue a degree in English honours from DU or NEHU and become a professor.

Her father Gunindro said, “Working as a government servant myself, I had enrolled her at a government school by considering that there are no differences between a private school and a government one. I am thrilled at my daughter securing the fourth position.”
