Students urged to avoid tobacco products

A legal awareness programme on World No-Tobacco Day cum activation of legal literacy club was held on Tuesday in Imphal West.

District Legal Services Authority, Imphal West conducted a Legal Awareness programme on World No - Tobacco Day cum Activation of Legal Literacy Club on Tuesday at Ram Lal Paul Higher Secondary School, Imphal West, Manipur.

Ram Lal Paul Higher Secondary School principal P Memthoi deliberated on the harmful effects of tobacco and appealed to the students not to use tobacco or tobacco products as they are the future pillars of the country.

District and Sessions Judge, Imphal West cum chairman, District Legal Services Authority, Imphal West Aribam Guneshwar Sharma also deliberated on the necessity of Legal Literacy Club and explained the role of students in providing legal aids.

Further elaborated on the fundamental rights and duties of the citizens of India and stated that as a citizen of India we should inculcate the knowledge of fundamental rights and duties from a young age as students.

CoNE (Community Network for Empowerment) president RK Nilakanta has spoken on the harmful effects of tobacco. He further stated that students of the society play a very crucial role in a tobacco free, drug free society.

Around 80 people including students, teachers, alumni etc participated in the programme. The programme concluded with a quiz cum Interaction session with the students.
