Omicron cases in India rose to 4,868 on Wednesday, and the total COVID-19 confirmed cases in the country reached 3,58,75,790 with 1,94,720 new cases in the last 24 hours, according to the latest update by the Union Health Ministry.
Among all states and UTs in India, Maharashtra, Rajasthan and Delhi has the highest number of Omicron cases with 1,281, 645 and 546 cases respectively as of Wednesday. However, 1,805 patients with Omicron infection have recovered so far.

Meanwhile, India's COVID-19 active caseload stood at 9,55,319. The active cases stands at 2.65 per cent and the recovery rate stood at 96.01 per cent. Maharashtra's COVID-19 active cases reached 2,09,764. The state also has the highest number of COVID-19 deaths -1,41,647.
A total of 60,405 more recoveries pushed the total recoveries to 3,46,30,536, while the death toll mounted to 4,84,213 with 277 more deaths.
The daily positivity rate stood at 11.05 per cent, while the weekly positivity rate was 9.82 per cent.
So far, 69.52 crore total tests have been conducted across the country and 153.80 cr vaccine doses have been administered under the Nationwide Vaccination Drive.
