Manipur reports six more Omicron cases, tally climbs to seven

Manipur's COVID-19 confirmed tally climbed to 1,26,821 as 116 more people tested positive for the infection, while the death toll remained 2,012.

Omicron cases in Manipur rose to seven as six more people tested positive for the new COVID-19 variant, while 116 in total, including four security personnel, tested positive for COVID-19, according to the stateDirectorate of Health Services on Friday.

However, all the Omicron cases have completed their mandatory isolation period and have been discharged with RT-PCR negative reports, and tracing of close contacts and containment measures are already in place ans cross notifications have been sent, a release from the state COVID-19 common control room stated.

Meanwhile, the public has been told not to panic and advised to strictly follow Covid Appropriate Behavior and get vaccinated for COVID-19 to prevent further spread of the variant.

Of the new cases, 40 are from Imphal West, 28 from Churachandpur, 22 from Imphal East, six from Tengnoupal, five from Kakching, three each from Bishnuppur, Kangpokpi and Thoubal, two each from Chandel, Kamjong and one each from Ukhrul and Senapati.

With the new cases, Manipur's COVID-19 confirmed tally reached 1,26,821, while the death toll remained 2,012 with no deaths reported on Friday. The total active cases rose to 469, while the recoveries reached 1,23,676. In all, 12 persons were discharged on Friday.

While 184,87,596 tests results have been recieved so far, the total number of people who have been administered the vaccine has reached 23,77,616 ( first dose: 13,56,905, second dose: 10,16,486 and precautionary dose: 4,225).

As of January 13, a total of  256 D-type oxygen cylinders and 56 B-type oxygen cylinders have been made available to different health institutions and health facilities of Manipur in the last 24 hours, the release added.
