With the completion of one year of Covid vaccination, India topped among the countries of the world in carrying out Covid vaccination, said state BJP spokesperson Ch Bijoy.
Bijoy was speaking to the media during a press conference held at the conference hall of state BJP office located at Nityaipat Chuthek, Imphal on Sunday.

The first vaccination in the country was started last year on January 16. Since then, 92 per cent of India's population has received the first dose of COVID vaccine while 70 per cent has received the second dose.
Compared with other countries within a period of one year, in France 13.6 crore people have been given vaccination; Russia-15.01 crore; Germany- 15.79 crore; Brazil- 34.02 crore; USA- 52.62 crore whereas India has given Covid vaccines to 156.59 crore people, he said. He further said the data showed that people of India gave more cooperation with the present Modi-led government as compared with the people of other countries.

To control the pandemic, India had launched eight Covid vaccines last year which are Covaxin on January 3; Covishield on January 3; Sputnik V on April 21; mRNA 1273 on June 30; Johnson and Johnson single dose vaccine on August 7; Zy CoV-D on August 20; Corbevax and Corovax vaccine on December 28, he added.
