Lai Haraoba festival celebrated in Bangladesh

The Lai Haraoba festival was organised by the Meitei Diaspora in Bangladesh from December 27 to 31 in collaboration with a 21-member team from Manipur led by noted museum curator Mutua Bahadur.

A three-day Lai Haraoba Festival of ‘Ema Ujao Lairembi’ was celebrated at Konagaon village, under Kamalganj Adampur Police Station in Mouluvi Bazar district, Bangladesh.

The festival was organised by the Meitei Diaspora in Bangladesh from December 27 to 31 in collaboration with a 21-member team from Manipur led by noted museum curator Mutua Bahadur, stated a release.

The Meitei residents at the village expressed their immense happiness for organising the Lai Harouba festival by bringing the shamans and shamanesses from Manipur in their village, it stated.

The festival has given a huge motivation to the Meiteis residing in Bangladesh to preserve their traditions and culture, it further stated.

Beside the Lai Haraoba festival, a 15-day training course on ‘Pung Esei Jagoi’ and crafting of ‘Poli’ was held at the Cultural Complex, Mange Makhong, it added.
