Despite the bad weather in Tamenglong district, Vacation Bible School (VBS) is in full swing under the theme ‘Rejoicing in Hope’ at various churches of the district.
Vacation Bible School (VBS) is a specialised form of religious education which focuses on children during summer vacation. Different churches usually hold week-long events in the church during the summer.
At Zeliangrong Baptist Church, at least 420 students and teaching staff are taking part in the Vacation Bible School.
Speaking to the media, director of VBS in Zeliangrong Baptist Church Tamenglong Soihempou S Panmei said that vacation bible school aims to bring children closer to God. It also seeks to mould the young children to grow up on the right path to live a holy life.
He said that the vacation bible school was conducted under Vacation Bible Ministry Bangalore and this year’s theme is ‘Rejoicing in Hope’.
“On this day, we kept the class room clean, decorated and also adorned in customary dresses,” Soihempou added. The young children were taught the Holy Bible, short chorus, song and dance related to Christianity.
The young kids were also made to memorize the Holy Bible verses and hold competitions among them, etc.
