UPSC Civil Services Exam 2021 results declared; women secure top three ranks

The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) has announced the final result of the UPSC Civil Services examination, 2021. The UPSC CSE final result is now available on the commission's official website upsc.gov.in.

This year, all top four ranks have been secured by women, with Shruti Sharma emerging as the topper in the civil services examination. Ankita Agarwal and Gamini Singla secured the second and third rank respectively while the fourth rank was bagged by Aishwarya Verma.

A total of 685 candidates, including 244 general, 73 EWS, 203 OBC, 105 SC and 60 ST category candidates, have qualified for appointment in the Indian Administrative Service (IAS), Indian Foreign Service (IFS), Indian Police Service (IPS), Central Services, Group ‘A’ and Group ‘B’ posts.

The UPSC informed that the marks secured by the candidates will be available on the website within 15 days from the date of declaration of result.

The UPSC Civil Services 2021 examination was conducted on October 10, 2021. The Mains exam was held on January 7 to 16, 2022 and the interview round was conducted from April 5 to May 26, 2022.

Meanwhile, Prime Minister Narendra Modi took to Twitter to congratulate the successful candidates.

"Congratulations to all those who have cleared the Civil Services (Main) Examination, 2021. My best wishes to these youngsters who are embarking on their administrative careers at an important time of India’s development journey, when we are marking Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav," PM Modi tweeted. 

The Prime Minister also wished the best to candidates who could not clear the exam.

"I fully understand the disappointment of those who couldn’t clear the Civil Services Exam but I also know that these are outstanding youngsters who will make a mark in any field they pursue and make India proud. My best wishes to them," the Prime Minister wrote.

Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) Science & Technology Jitendra Singh also tweeted, "Women power at it's best! Congratulations Shruti Sharma, Ankita Agrawal and Gamini Singla, the first 3 toppers in #UPSC #CivilServicesExamination 2021 Final. A day of celebration also for all the others who have made it".
