SUK to celebrate foundation day, announces activities

On September 17, debate contest on the theme, ‘Manipur da drugs ki mahum saribassi leingaki thourang thousil mapung phadabagini’ (Manipur has become a den of drugs due to absence of proper policies) will be held at Maharaja Chandrakirti Auditorium, Palace Compound Imphal East.

The Students’ Union of Kangleipak (SUK) is all set to conduct a series of activities in a weeklong celebration in the run-up to its foundation day that falls on September 18.

SUK HRD secretary announced that the association will carry out a week-long tree plantation campaign from Sunday onwards under the theme, ‘Shanghallasi Kangleipak’.

The campaign will be held in all higher secondary schools affiliated under the Council of Higher Secondary Education Manipur, he said.

From Sunday onwards, blood donation camps will be held in association with the Regional Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS), he further said, appealing to people of the state to donate blood.

He further said that on September 17, open debate competition on the theme, ‘Manipur da drugs ki mahum saribassi leingaki thourang thousil mapung phadabagini’ (Manipur has become a den of drugs due to absence of proper policies) at Maharaja Chandrakirti Auditorium, Palace Compound Imphal East.

The prizes of the debate are Rs 30,000 with a certificate and memento for first position, Rs 20,000 with certificate and a memento for second position and Rs 10,000 with certificate and a memento for third position.

Consolation prizes will be presented to those who secure 4th to 10th ranks. The prize will be distributed on the foundation day of SUK at Meipa Banquet Hall, Palace Compound, he added.
