It said that since 2006, the Meetei-Pangal were given the privilege of four per cent in professional courses and government jobs. Unfortunately, the reservation was not given for the higher education courses, it said, adding that it has become a reason for acute backwardness for the minority Meetei-Pangal.

The four per cent reservation is the only way to uplift the minority community and the steps to make an egalitarian society, the release said.
