Concerning the reported use of textbooks by schools under the Catholic Education Society Manipur, which is not prescribed by BOSEM, student bodies have opposed the use of such text books by schools affiliated to BOSEM. The student bodies include KSA, MSF, AIMS, DESAM, SUK among others.
KSA president Sukham Bidyananda told the media at the office of MSF in Imphal that the general knowledge text book of Class V titled ‘Mind Express Now’ published by Mac Milon used by schools under Catholic Education Society Manipur is not prescribed by the BOSEM.
“The text books in a particular page have also misinterpreted the Manipur society which is highly unfortunate,” he said.
He said that the BOSEM will be held responsible for any mistakes or errors found in the books it has prescribed. However for those books which are not prescribed, the BOSEM will not be deemed responsible for errors or mistakes, he added.
Condemning uses of such textbooks, he said that the student bodies will be dealing with the Catholic Education Society Manipur in this regard.
