The Manipur Students Federation (MSF) District Committee Jiribam has condemned the issuance of transfer order of Jiribam Higher Secondary School teacher M Romeo Singh amid challenges faced by the school students due to shortage of teachers.
Speaking to the media in a press conference held at MSF office, Jiribam, MSF District Committee president A Rajiv Meetei said that Education (S) joint secretary, Hmangte Lerte Kom issued the transfer order of M Romeo Singh on August 4 to Ukhrul Higher Secondary School.
Romeo is a local of Jiribam and an incumbent teacher of Jiribam Higher Secondary School. He is also currently working as coordinator of Diploma in Elementary Education in Highway English School Centre. Without providing any substitute teacher for the school, issuing the transfer order suddenly is highly condemnable, he added.
While various student bodies have been demanding to provide sufficient teachers in the school, the sudden transfer of the teacher would make the students face more challenges during these critical days of pandemic. The 'School Fagathansi Mission' launched by the state government has become a failure in Jiribam district, Rajiv said.
He continued that the same issue had occurred earlier in Jiribam Higher Secondary School when the student body demanded for a Mathematics teacher. Though the teacher was provided by the authority concerned, he was transferred to another district soon. Consequently, the students in the school have been facing hardship in their academics consistently.
Urging the school principal not to issue release order of Romeo, MSF stated that if the transfer order of the teachers is not revoked, the following consequences should be borne by the authority concerned.
The press conference was also attended by MSF District Committee assistant finance secretary, O Johnson Singh.
